The Knicks are on a tear. Eight straight wins at Madison Square Garden. They haven't lost a home game since February 24th, when Boston snuck out of town with a 116-102 victory. That's a month and a half of pure dominance in front of their home crowd. Now, the New Orleans Pelicans roll into town, and this isn't your typical lottery-bound squad.

Here's the thing: the Pelicans’ 25-47 record is misleading. They've been playing some tough basketball, especially on the road where they've snagged a few surprising wins. Remember that 111-106 upset over the Jazz in Utah on March 15th? Or how about their 119-115 win against the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena just a week later? This Pels team has nothing to lose, and that makes them dangerous. Brandon Ingram, despite the team's struggles, is still dropping 20 points a night, averaging 20.8 on the season. CJ McCollum has been a revelation since joining New Orleans, putting up 21.6 points and 5.9 assists in 22 games. Those guys can fill it up in a hurry.

**Can Anyone Slow Down Brunson?**

Jalen Brunson has been the engine of this Knicks team all year, and he's taken it to another level lately. He’s averaging 28.7 points and 6.7 assists over his last 10 games, including that monstrous 45-point effort against the Suns on March 29th. The guy is fearless driving to the rim and his mid-range jumper is money. He's shooting 47.3% from the field this season, a career high. He's not just scoring either; he's orchestrating the offense, making sure everyone gets their touches. Josh Hart, another mid-season acquisition, has been a revelation off the bench, bringing a defensive intensity and rebounding prowess that's infectious. He’s grabbed 8 or more rebounds in 10 of his last 15 games.

But the Pelicans have some long, athletic defenders. Herb Jones, all 6-foot-8 of him, is a pest on defense. He's averaging 1.6 steals per game, and he's got the wingspan to bother Brunson's drives and pull-ups. Jose Alvarado, while undersized, is a tenacious on-ball defender who loves to pick pockets. He’s got 1.3 steals per contest. It won't be easy for Brunson to get to his spots against this backcourt.

**The Paint Battle Will Be Key**

Look, the Knicks have Isaiah Hartenstein and Precious Achiuwa holding down the center spot, and they've been solid. Hartenstein had that incredible 19-rebound game against the Pistons on March 25th. Achiuwa brings energy and athleticism, averaging 7.6 points and 6.6 rebounds since joining New York. But New Orleans has Jonas Valanciunas, a legitimate bruiser down low. The big Lithuanian is averaging 12.8 points and 9.5 rebounds on the season, and he's not afraid to throw his weight around. He’s also shooting a respectable 49.3% from the field.

The Knicks' success at home has been built on stifling defense and efficient offense. They're only giving up 104.5 points per game at MSG during this winning streak. But if Valanciunas can establish position and control the glass, it'll open up opportunities for Ingram and McCollum on the perimeter. The Knicks need to crash the boards hard and make life difficult for Valanciunas in the post. Julius Randle, with his 8.2 rebounds per game, will be crucial in this effort.

I'm telling you, this Pels team, despite their record, is going to come out swinging. They've got nothing to lose, and they'd love to be the team that breaks the Knicks' home streak. This isn't a guaranteed win, folks. I predict the Knicks’ home streak ends tonight, with the Pelicans pulling off a 108-105 upset.
